Eleanor Roosevelt was born in New York, NY in 1884 and she died in 1962.
She was the first American first lady, the wife of Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was the 32nd President of the United States. She was a UN diplomat and humanitarian as well as one of the most admired and powerful woman during her time. "She grew up in a wealthy family." She was the daughter of Anna Hall Roosevelt and Elliott Roosevelt and the niece of the 26th President whose name was Theodore Roosevelt.
She was 10 years old when both of her parents passed away. She and her brother were then raised by her relatives. At the age of 15 he was educated in a girl's boarding school at Allenswood outside of London. After three years living and studying there and under the influence of Marie Souvestre, a French headmistress, was according to her was the most happiest moment time of her life.
Then in 1902, she returned back to New York where she devoted her time getting involved in community service and teaching.
