Miriam left her native land for Canada in search for greener pastures. Her salary, and her husband's, from their jobs in her own country isn't enough to make ends meet so she decided to go overseas. It would be difficult for her because it means she will leave her family, and might compromise her close bonds and relationship with them.
Her actual plan is to bring her family to Canada someday as immigrants. The day came for her departure but she decided to go to the airport alone. When she arrived in Canada, adjustments on her new life has been very difficult for her due to homesickness. Video calling has been her way to communicate with her family.
Years had passed, she went home with so much excitement. She brought home a lot of gifts for her children, and was surprised to see how they'd grown up. Distributed the gifts for them, her kids are very happy with the gifts and thanked her.
Seeing her children's closeness with her husband, she felt a bit of jealousy. That despite their communication online, it is not enough to have close bonds with them compared to her husband who's present to do his parental duties. She went to the room crying.
Her husband and kids secretly followed her carrying the "Welcome Home" cake. Miriam was surprised when they went in, and her sadness was eased with tears of joy.
