Spiritual Warfare is real: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith

The second letter to Timothy is perhaps the last letter written by the apostle Paul, it is considered his spiritual testament. Paul is a prisoner in Rome and says goodbye to his disciple Timothy, keeping the hope in Christ: "For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.", 2 Timothy 4:6-10.

The apostle Paul by the weight of his writings can be considered the true founder of the Christian faith. The apostle Paul is one of the best examples of what spiritual warfare means, his spiritual combat begins with a vision of Jesus that blinds him: "As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, ´Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?´
´Who are you, Lord?´ Saul asked.
´I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,´ he replied. Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.´
The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone. Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus. For three days he was blind, and did not eat and drink anything.", Acts 9:3-9.
After this vision, he accepts baptism and conversion, and as a persecutor of Christians he becomes one of the most important propagators of the Christian faith. Paul leaves his old name Saul and passes from the death to life, from a life full of sins to a life of righteousness.
As Saul, we are all called to take this step, this conversion, we have to choose between the good and the evil that are eternally debated in our hearts. This is the true spiritual warfare, educating the heart by learning to choose correctly.
