Basketball is arguably the most racist game. It’s a tall man’s game. Surely little men can still play it, but obviously not when the big guys are around.
For as long as you agree that the “white man” is a race, then you should accept as well that the "tall man" is a race because they're both physical features.
The dictionary defines race as “a local geographic or global human population distinguished as a more or less distinct group by genetically transmitted physical characteristics.” Therefore, the white man is a race as much as the tall man is because both have distinguishable physical features that are passed down heritably.
The white man, or white people to make it more gender-neutral, exist in different cultures and can be found even within African nations. They can be found in any nation today, they speak different languages, and they have different traditions or ways of life. Middle Eastern countries such as Lebanon are also white people’s nations. The race of white people, therefore, is irrelevant to any country or geographic location or culture or ethnicity but is a global population of people with a common physical feature.
The same can be said about the race of tall people. They can also be found in any nation today. They speak different languages, and they have different traditions or ways of life.
Height is a physical feature as much as the color of the skin is, and no one could possibly be too intellectually blind to see it.
Basketball gives a clear advantage to the race of tall people. If you’re not tall, therefore, you’re automatically discriminated against just because of your physical makeup.
Basketball is a tall man’s game. It’s a racist game. This is no cause for any special antagonism against the game because it's a fun game to play and to watch.
Professional governing bodies of boxing understand very well that the weight measurements of contestants inescapably beget discrimination in the sport which is why they split it into 17 weight classes. Sadly, basketball associations can't seem to figure this out yet. Professional basketball should involve a new height class with a shorter rim for shorter players.
It's time for this game to grow up and become more inclusive.
