I got a lot of flack over the last few years for stepping in when people called Trump a racist and saying that he's more of a nationalist. Apparently, it's not politically correct to point out that Mexico is a country and not an ethnicity.
As usual, I have my reasons for sticking my neck out.
We're approaching the anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo shooting. For years, we've been sold the meme of islamophobia and told that criticism of a religion is an attack on Arabs; all that while people seem to have forgotten that Malcolm X was a black American Muslim who, after his pilgrimage to Mecca, talked about how he saw Muslims of all skin colors.
I don't only accept Arabs like Sarah Haider; I love her. I've already listened to her speak for hours.
She's not a Muslim anymore. She is an Arab.
Neither being Muslim nor Arab should be cause for shame; but, there shouldn't be conflation on this issue. Having problems with the doctrines of Islam isn't the same as having problems with Arabs as people, no matter how much Ben Affleck is going to tell you it is.
