Radio Red in Christmas colors

in radiored •  7 years ago

My imagination is sometimes lacking when it comes to promoting my work ... although I should point out that my wife shot down both the sandwich board idea and, for financial reasons, the sky writing. Still, she did come up with something I hadn't considered when it comes to my newest book:

See, it's Christmas season, that time when many businesses make the lion's share of their annual profit. It was Emily who pointed out that the cover of Radio Red is also the traditional Christmas colors: red and green. (Come to think of it, so is one of the main characters.)

They're also stoplight colors, but never mind.

So you, anyone who buys our books is being festive!

If someone opens a box with Radio Red in it for Christmas, do you know what they'll say?

Well, okay, yeah, they'll say "what's a Radio Red?" But they'll also say, "Cool, Christmas colors!" Even if they download it as an e-book, because the cover's still there.

This is way better than my idea of tattooing all my book titles to my forehead.

Unfortunately, I have a old Kindle which is only black and white. But never mind, I have seen the cover in color more than once.
For the real Christmas feel, there should be snow on the trees, and the guy should be wearing a jumper with reindeers and christmas trees on it. But well, you cant think of everything in advance... :)
The idea of tattooing all the book title on your forehead is perhaps not so smart. You are not done writing yet, and if you come up with more titles like "Hoosier Hysterical - or how the West became the Mid-West without moving" you could be running into a problem there.

Hm ... I hadn't thought of that, even though my own Kindle is only black and white.

The problem, of course, is that the book came out in the spring ... and no way have I sold enough copies to justify a cover change!

You're right, that title is too long for a tattoo. Maybe I should start with "Smoky Days and Sleepless Nights: a Century or So With the Albion Fire Department".

Well, there you go. Those two titles alone would need most of the space - although male foreheads have the tendency to expand upwards over the years.
One alternative could be your back of course, but I guess not a lot of people get to see that. :)

Only in the summer, at the beach!
