Rahul Dravid was born on 11 January 1973 in Indore but proceeded to Bangalore. He was fairly good in academics. His dad was also a cricket buff and used to take Rahul along with his younger brother to see cricket games. That is where he developed a liking for cricket. He began playing professional cricket at the age of 12.

Starting of Cricket Career

He represented the Karnataka state team in U-15, U-17, and U-19 age groups, leading to a place in the state's Ranji Trophy team. He left his Ranji debut for Karnataka from the 1991-92 season.

He had a terrific first season and aggregated a total of 380 runs in an average of 63.3. It included a couple of hundreds.

International introduction and increase prominence

Jammy played his first global game in the ODI series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. A few months later, he made his Test debut against England at Lord's, scoring 95 runs in his debut innings.

He also received a label of a slow batsman from the ODIs and had to struggle to acquire a spot in the ODI team.

He overcame this criticism, enhanced his ODI batting, and cemented his place in the ODI team also. Three years after his debut, he was in prime shape in the 1999 World Cup. Together with 461 runs under his belt, he became the highest run-getter of this championship.

Apart from batting, he also kept wickets in ODIs for India to get a considerable period. He's affected 84 dismissals as wicketkeeper including 71 catches and 13 stumpings. In Tests, as a non-wicketkeeper, he has a world record of accepting the most amount of catches (210).
