Short Stories,
Sea noise
Suddenly, a droplet of water turned his face.
It was starting to rain, but that would not have convinced her to stop.
He had been walking for days, months and years. Tirelessly he went on; the wind was his only traveling companion.
He was an old sailor and had spent much of his life on the sea, then he had decided to return home and the crew had left him in a small port; from that day the sailor walked; he wanted to return home; and this desire gave him the strength to go on.
He slept under the stars and listened to the gentle whispers of the wind. He had travelled relentlessly for years, he had seen the world, but had not been able to love any place like his country of origin, which he had not seen for too long.
He continued to walk with the rain that slipped against him and the fresh wind that grazed his face.
He thought. He thought about his life, which had passed by wandering without goal, he felt free.
He thought of that small house on the sea which he had abandoned and his parents who would not recognise and suddenly stopped.
It had arrived. The place had to be that. He watched him carefully, nothing was as he remembered. Instead of its small house, there was a huge building and its quiet, golden and beautiful beach became gray, sad, crowded.
The sailor had travelled too long. He realized that he no longer had a house and no longer had any origins. He stopped for a short while, sad, then continued to walk.
