Questions my exhausted mind could not find the answers to
My hands are reaching out to you, the heavens
As though it was a sign of surrender, an admission of defeat, a portrayal of my limits -
To understand, to comprehend, and to answer
Why all of these unfortunate events chose to come upon you
I could clearly hear the trickling sound of the raindrops
As they made their way down your cheeks from your eyes
Looking through the window, I could see how heavy your clouds were that night
They hid away the moon and the stars, in the same way that pain and anger have hidden away your heart
As I watched the shadows around me, creep up and devour my being
I began to understand how darkness consumed your soul
The chill of the cold air has frozen my lungs, I could barely breathe
Loneliness, bitterness and brokenness have done the same to you
