Ubisoft is now more interested in the community in Rainbox Six Siege. Hate-filled chat messages can lead to a multi-day or permanent ban.

Rainbow Six Siege will introduce a new ban system, which harder to deal with toxic players and automatically collect violations of the Code of Conduct.
According to community manager Craig Robinson, the improvements will be implemented in the multiplayer shooter this week, he said in a Reddit post.

Specifically, it is about any language or content that is "illegal, dangerous, threatening, offensive, obscene, vulgar, harmful to reputation, hateful, racist, sexist, ethically offensive or harassing".

Punishment for insults of any kind are always imposed on a case by case basis. The frequency of insults also plays a role here. Reports from other players can lead to faster convictions. However, one does not depend on the messages from the community, says Robinson.

Gradations of ban penalties

Depending on the seriousness of the offense, the account can be banned for several days, weeks or permanently. The following ban times Ubisoft has planned:

  • 2 days
  • 7 days
  • 15 days
  • Permanent

Players who have received a ban will receive a message with the length of their abstinence. In addition, a global message will be posted to all players in the worldwide chat that someone has been banned for toxic behavior, similar to a ban for cheats. However, the developers know it's a competitive game and it's normal when "trash talk or bad words happen". The new system is intended to punish players who regularly and negatively attract attention.

According to the community manager, this is the first step to better handle insults and hatred in Rainbow Six. At a later date further measures will be presented.
