According to the local government, it is estimated that approximately 6,000 tons of earth and sand collapsed.
In South Korea, heavy rains over the past few days have caused a series of cliff collapses and flooding across the country, and in the central province of Chungcheongbuk-do, a dam overflowed its banks, forcing the evacuation of some 6,400 residents.
According to the South Korean government, 26 people have died and 10 are missing, and Prime Minister Han Duk-soo has ordered the mobilization of military units to do everything possible to rescue the missing.
