A. What is ZIMBOCASH?
ZIMBOCASH is a decentralized(not controlled by a Central Bank though one can issue it) digital/virtual/crypto (notice we didn’t say electronic) currency that is fixed in supply. It is a currency like the Rand, Pula, Yen or the USD the only difference is that ZIMBOCASH like any other cryptocurrency is not printed physically unlike these centralized currencies.
The goal is to establish a decentralized currency for Zimbabwe that can be used for things such as buying bread, paying fees, and any other transactions you would like to perform.
B. What make it different for traditional currencies?
I will focus on two things that make ZIMBOCASH different
1. It is fixed in supply
No more money printing. Once the blockchain is launched the amount of ZIMBOCASH in it cannot be altered. This is key since this has several implications. One such implication is that it brings stability of prices every Zimbabwean practically understands based on the experience of 2008 & 2019 that too much money printing is the reason behind hyperinflation thus if the money supply if fixed then we have dealt with hyperinflation.
2. It is boarderless
ZIMBOCASH will be launched on an international exchange opening opportunity for each Zimbabwean to trade it for any other currency on the exchange.
