A First Post

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen,

I write this first post being somewhat bewildered by the environment I currently find myself in. My journey to become a member of steemit has been long, mainly due to my own inactivity, and then attempting to sign up with the same credentials I have before. However, I am here now. For now at least. No promises.

I looked briefly at my trending feed. I'm not a believer in coincidence, however I do find a level of enjoyment in the connections made between recent happenings, and what currently occurs in front of me. Primarily, this morning I was watching a video, produced by Vox if I remember correctly, on how the platforms generated by tech companies (think facebook, youtube etc) use algorithms and general principles of psychology to keep you on their platforms by using incendiary and emotional content to keep you on the site. Looking at the feed, I wondered if that was the same occurrence here. However I will have to dive more deeply before I make a full conclusion on the matter.

In the meantime, I'm interested in developing a minor presence here. The topics on which I might have a modicum of information to share include; the Canadian marijuana market, home brewing beer or kombucha, science, more specifically host-pathogen interactions. I'm sure I could pass for informed on many other topics, but lets not test that assumption.
