Random Japan #43 :: A Random Walk

in randomjapan •  6 years ago

Hello, beautiful and amazing readers, and welcome to the latest issue of Random Japan, the post filled with random and hopefully interesting photos from the country, photos that show off daily things but daily things you may not see very often amongst all the typical Japan images floating around on the web.

Today, I went on a photo walk! Well… I do that often. But today I went on another one! Let’s look at some of the things I captured on this one.

Ready? Good! Let’s get started. Let’s jump into…

Random Japan!

By the way, today instead of using my smartphone, I grabbed one of my better cameras and zoom lens, which I kept zoomed into the max, which I think was around 150mm. Photo walks are often more interesting if we limit ourselves in some way, esp shooting in a way that we usually wouldn’t. Let me know if you like the results.

I think I have already mentioned more than a few times in this series how I love that signs here feature a hat. Old signs that were never updated, I suppose, but with hats coming back into fashion, the signs are accurate once more. Maybe that was the plan…

Old Kannon-sama hanging around one of the many roadside shrines along the walk, offering prayer and also perhaps practicing juggling with all the crap in her other arms.

Okazaimon! He is the mascot of Okazaki City. His head and body form the kanji for the city. He is well loved because he is considered ugly. Take that, kawaii (cute)-culture! Here he is on a vending machine.

No Litter in Japan?
No Litter in Japan?

You may have heard that Japan is a magical place where people never would dream of littering and always keep all their trash in their pockets. Uh huh. If you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

I like the Okazaimon. I don't think he is ugly! That's so interesting that his head and body form the kanji for the city!
