Random Thoughts II

It's been at least two months since I last cleared my mind with some Random Thoughts, so here it goes. Since I moved to Forked River, New Jersey, I needed to find a new Endocrinologist. What made this task hard was that I am currently under a plan that is not accepted by most Endocrinologists in the area. I had finally found one upon a recommendation by a doctor after calling about a dozen doctors that were listed to be in my plan by my insurance company's website but as it turned out had recently left the plan. So after finding out that this one doctor was in my plan, the person who answered the phone asked as to why I was making an appointment. I told them that I was a diabetic and I was looking for someone to assist me with the treatment of my diabetes. Even though I have a referral, I had to fax over my last bloodwork results. Not only did I think no one uses a fax machine anymore, but I thought the referral would be enough. Whatever happened to the days when you needed a doctor, you just called and made an appointment. I actually remember when you didn't need an appointment.

The New York Yankees need to sign Gerrit Cole. They need someone who can start a game and not put too much pressure on the bullpen. It doesn't mean a thing if you have a great bullpen but their arms are ready to fall off due to being overworked. Salary can be trimmed in other areas to make this happen. They may be a little gun shy due to the Jacoby Ellsbury debacle, but they are one great starter away from being a powerhouse team.

So "Baby It's Cold Outside" is offending some people after all these years. You can take most songs or published works and turn them into offensive statements. Well, almost most. Recently, the John Legend version came on the radio with altered lyrics and if this isn't a piece of comedy, I don't know what is. How come all of the songs about bitches don't offend anyone?

People in my household have been enjoying watching "Live PD." Is the filming of ordinary people being stopped by the police legal? I remember when I worked on independent films, you needed the permission of everyone hat was to be filmed. You can't tell me that the drunk guy that was pulled over on his bicycle was sober enough to give permission. There must be some loophole for filming police acts live, even if the person is innocent. However, most of the stops involve some sort of violation.

While we are in the middle of the Christmas season, it doesn't feel like Christmas in most places. While driving on Route 37, Hooper Avenue and Route 70 in the Toms River and Brick areas, I hardly noticed any Christmas decorations or lights. A festive appearance always enticed more people to shop back in my retail days. Are so many people ordering online that the actual retail locations don't feel the need to decorate? I am not referring to people's homes, which I have seen some decorated. Even the Ocean County Mall appeared dark as I drove by. I hope nobody banned the song "We Need A Little Christmas."
