im not surprised that the worlds of porn and video games are colliding. what i am starting to realize about people is that we, specifically men, all naturally choose the path of least resistance. video games offer us an escape from a mundane existence, and success means hard work, sleepless nights, and personal sacrifice. video games offer an alternate reality with little effort and provide the illusion of accomplishment.
porn offers an escape from rejection, an escape from applying effort in fashion or style, or fitness, or trying to learn how to interact with people on an intimate level. it offers a quick dopamine fix because the brain cant tell the difference between virtual sex and actual sex, but consciously we know those women will never give a damn about us and while we rot away at home theyre profiting off our cowardice and living a fulfilling successful life, or at least as successful as a whore's life could be minus the dignity.
it seems since all the manufacturing left america that an entire industry of docile artificial interaction has replaced it. we dont have to endure social anxiety anymore in a public place, we can sink into our smartphones and, like voyeurs, creep on our fake friends on fakebook to pass the time. maybe we pine for a celebrity infatuation? we can go on twitter and see what theyre up to, probably things more interesting than us because they work and make good money. how about talking to an attractive girl? we can go on younow or twitch because there are plenty of girls seeking our attention and praise, after all everyone needs their fix. not raunchy enough? you can go on myfreecams or chaturbate and your favorite internet stripper can pretend she is interested in what you have to say. perhaps you want to share a conversation with another lonely fellow like yourself? you can go on omegle or chatroulette and if the guy doesnt already have his dick out maybe you can chat for a bit before one of you gets bored and a new person is just a click away. maybe you have critical thoughts like i do? you can browse out the zealots on youtube and get your confirmation bias. God forbid we share these views with anyone who could potentially challenge our preconceptions.
the matrix will never replace the things in life we truly lack, and when the economy crumbles and all the servers shut down will we be okay? do you keep in touch with your neighbors? do you even know their names? what is your mayor's name? do you keep in touch with your family? do they keep in touch with you? do you have actual friends? when was the last time you had a real conversation with someone about something deep and personal? i personally cant remember.
im worried about this society, im afraid we have become complacent and increasingly narcissistic. ive spent the last four years living around the amish and ive seen the beauty of community and simplicity. a connection not just with the natural world but the people around them. they gossip and bicker like all people do, but they dont avoid it, and it makes them hearty and strengthens their bond with one another.
