people keep complaining that "the 1%" have X percentage of the nations wealth. if you live in the U.S., and have a household income of over $20,000 you are in the top 1% worldwide. if you are online, and able to read this via an internet connection, you are doing FANTASTIC! if you truly feel that redistribution of wealth works, why not donate 80% of YOUR PERSONAL income to a family in India, that gets by on $2,000 a year?
See, poverty is relative. here in the states, we have FAT poor people. we have "poor" people with cell phones. we have "poor" people with late model cars. as a kid, I experienced poverty. the phone? it was next door. our neighbor was a little better off, and would let mom use the phone. our only means of transportation was a girls 20" bicycle, and a radio flyer tied to the seat post was mine and my sisters seat. government cheese makes THE BEST grilled cheese sandwiches, bar none. its been DECADES since we were that poor, and to this day, vegetarian meals remind me of the weeks and months we would go without meat.
This is not a "poor me" post. this is simply me saying, if you are posting on facebook, instagram, here, or anywhere else about "the struggle", you aren't struggling. you have electricity, a computer(or smartphone) and internet access. when you are having your 5th candle light dinner of cornbread and beans, and its a week till that check drops, then talk to me about struggle
