The Bottom Line: PARTYNEXTDOOR has drawn a lot comparisons to other R&B acts. He successfully makes all those comparisons laughable
I’d like to start this review by saying I’ve never been the biggest PND fan, but I recognize greatness, and PND is it. PARTYNEXTDOOR makes a statement with a new four-track EP. It’s the sequel to his PNDColours release from 2014 and it doesn’t disappoint. PND shows off his versatility with this EP by creating 4 masterpieces all with different style beats at different tempo, and never uses the same cadence. This appears to take away some of the fire heating up with the release of Bryson Tiller’s new album. In addition, many artists have been trying to make the new anthem for summer 2017, and at this point PND may the closest with “Low Battery”. This time around PND chose to go with no credited features. G. Ry, a rising producer and OMO member, takes up billing alongside PND on Colors 2, where he showcases his own unique production style and chemistry. The project was executive produced by the two artists and worked on over the span of five days, or a week after Bryson released his album. Coincide? Regardless the duo is impressive, to say the least.
