Got my order in

ALso check this deal out: https://www.dfrobot.com/product-1179.html
$9 for the Pi Camera

Where did you order from? Everywhere I saw was already sold out.

That's a great price for a Pi camera, but it isn't the official one it is also only 5 megapixels like the original V1 camera. Still a great price if it works. Let me know if you give it a try.

I want to get a couple Pi 4's for some projects but suspect it will be a while.

https://www.canakit.com . Yeah looks like the lead time is growing with the hour. I plan on getting the pi cam to use with OctoPrint

Their shipping is insane, it's around half the price of the Pi. I'll probably wait until I can get it off Amazon for near list price. Although I'd really like to get at least one and may break down and pay the early adopter tax.

For Octoprint, there are some great USB cameras that do a better job for around the same price.

I have been considering a deep dive into the arduino as a recipient of midi information from my synth rig to drive motorized movements in my sorta DIY on-rails camera system, but the more I read about Raspberry Pi (and considering I have a background in most of the common coding languages) do you think it would be overkill to take such a simple project as an excuse to learn the seemingly vastly more powerful Raspberry Pi environment in terms of long term usability on other projects? Integration with MAXmsp and what not has my brain percolating.

With engineering, there is no such thing as overkill ;p

That's what I'm talking about.

This is the first that I'm hearing g about Raspberry Pi but it sounds interesting. I wouldnt pay for a subscription but the free version sounds cool. I'll check it out

Now that might come in handy now that they have the new one out. I'll bet you have like 20 of them! :)

last time I counted, I think I have around 10.

2 for my 3D printers, 1 for Retro Console for the TV, 1 for my portable retro console I made, 1 for my home theater system, one as a Ubi Network Controller, one for Pi-hole, and a few lying around for misc stuff.
