Like every young boy growing up, the pressure was on to be the loudest, the fastest, the funniest, the smartest...the best. Right. Because that's what we were raised on.
Top Gun.
Rambo.
Terminator.
The 80's and 90's were filled with messages about only the strong surviving.
And so that's what I did. I became the best I could in every situation....except the best at being me.
It was only in my adult years that I realised I was an introvert.
That being around people, actually exhausted me.
And for the first time I started to appreciate that there was nothing wrong with someone else leading the charge. Someone else having the stage. Someone else cracking the jokes.
The pressure was off, and I could start to enjoy people, and enjoy being me.
