Real Talk - Vol 12. - The American Entrepreneur Is Dying

in real-talk •  8 years ago

We now live in an age where it's easier to start a business then ever before. Thus, it is baffling the number of businesses owned by people under the age of 30 has declined by 65% since the 1980's.

In fact the share of people under the age of 30 that own a business hit a 24 year low in 2015 - according to a Wall Street Journal study of Federal Reserve data.

Aren't we living in the information age? The media makes us think Millennials are starting businesses with app creations, web launches and share based services at a breakneck pace and everyone is worth a million in no time flat.

That's Not The Reality

Fact of the matter is - starting a business.....I mean, really seriously starting and growing a business is hard damn work! With the ease of starting a business online, I think we sometimes forget how hard building a business actually is.

That is why I'm so excited I stumbled across this and felt compelled to share it

Can't wait to watch this!!!

Generation Startup

This trailer is for a movie documentary that follows six young entrepreneurs in Detroit, MI as they bust their ass to build their different businesses. The filming began in June 2014 and proceeded to follow these aspiring business owners for the next two years.

This is the real stuff of business ownership

All those times when we see people with successful businesses and want to just say:
"They Got Lucky, if so and so happened for me then...."

Well, we never see all the hard work, the successes, the failures. The HEARTACHE of that everyday grind people put in for years before finding success, assuming they find success at all.

I for one am happy a light is finally being shined on this aspect.
