I arrived home today to Chester wagging his tail and his bandage in his mouth. I had noticed it was slipping slightly due to his constant gnawing and tugging. The vet reckoned he will see him on Saturday to change his dressing and bandage. I suppose it will have to be tomorrow now.
What I did do though was sign the two dogs up for medical aid or pet insurance as I just don't trust him to stay injury free or make it through the 12 weeks being quiet. The cost for the year is about half of what the operation fees were so it is better safe than sorry. There isn't much difference in price between a human having an operation and a dog. I would kick myself in a few weeks if he did something and had to go back for another operation.
He has already managed to sneak off into the garden on his own to bark at the neighbors dog and to scare people walking past in the street. It is really an impossible task to keep him penned up for 3 months. We are not here during the day and I have had to keep popping back to make sure the maid has everything under control.
The other pets from my zoo don't need to go onto the medical aid as they are low maintenance. It is not as if we own a horse or something as I would understand having insurance for that. A cat has nine lives so that is fine and my parrots are always healthy. They eat everything and moan if you don't give them whatever is for dinner. It is a bit sick, but chicken is their favorite as well as they crack the bones and get the marrow out. There is nothing funnier than seeing a parrot holding a drumstick, I will get a photo the next time it happens. In the wild they eat everything so this is normal, maybe not roast chicken, but other birds would make it onto their menu.
Crossing fingers and thumbs the vet gives the ok tomorrow that his leg is still fine and he hasn't damaged it in the few days we have had him back.

Wow, that is horrible. We have been pretty lucky that we haven't had to take our dog in for anything major, but our friends have and I know it can be very expensive. Insurance is one of those things that you always pay for but you hope you never have to use it. It seems like such a racket sometimes, but to protect our loved ones it is always worth it. We used to keep our dog in a crate during the day when we didn't want her roaming around. They actually say it isn't as bad as it sounds. Dogs like having a space that they can claim as their own and be comfortable in.

The vegan brigade are roaming the steemit corridors baying for blood. If they see an act of cannibalism in their mist you are dead meat!! Haha.

Poor dog! Unfortunately these medical procedures are not cheap and I can understand why. I've seen this on tv and it's hard work that needs preparation. Good thing your dog is over it and can heal now.
