It is slow going.
The entire crypto-sphere is unfolding although not at the pace many would like.
We are seeing the establishment of an entirely new platform. This requires a lot of infrastructure as well as regulators around the planet figuring out what is going on.
In the meantime, we are seeing some green sprouts of how things will go.
Real estate offers enormous potential for the world of tokenization. This is normal a very non-liquid market which establishes a premium. Estimates are that non-liquid markets carry a 5%-15% premium compared to liquid ones.
The biggest advantage to tokenization for real estate is the fractional aspect of it. Properties can be broken up into sizes that most can afford. This offers an expanded investor base as compared to what presently exists.
It also could enable tens of millions of people to get involved in a segment they traditional could not get involved with. Most do not have the money to get involved with limited partnerships that are so common in the real estate industry.
With tokenization, one could own a piece of a commercial property in downtown Los Angeles; or Tokyo; or London. The same can go for residential properties.
At this time there are not a lot of options out there. The ones that do exist, however, are starting to see more activity. Properties that were already tokenized are seeing more trading. There are also more properties using the method starting to hit the market.
Here is an article that details some of the progress being made.
