The compound noun Reality Check doesn’t make any obvious sense, but is now a commonplace in a variety of competitive environments, including business, politics, and especially, sports. It denotes “unexpected failure owing to strategic defect”.
These words are an extract from an answer to a question: What is Reality Check? By David Jensen. I don't know who this guy is. He further says:
You’ll observe, over time, that a reality check is no guarantee of improved performance.
True...
Nevertheless, Reality Check is very important.
Why?
Read these verses by me :)
Pure good, pure evil - what a fairytale delight!
Only in movies do villains wear black all night.
But in the real world, we're all a bit weird,
A mix of angel wings and devil's beard.
Threads of gold and threads of grime,
Virtue and vice, all tangled in time.
But why blame others when the plot goes astray?
When you hold the matches to light up the way?
Because blaming is easy... Yup, super easy!
Life keeps telling you, "Pain’s the ticket to the show,"
But we stand there asking, "Can I get in free, though?"
Complaints pile up like socks in the air,
"Poverty! Corruption! The economy's bare!"
Cry, cry, cry... It's your own loss!
Meanwhile, have you even lifted a brick?
Or scrolled less on TikTok to build something slick?
You cry, "China's cheap! America's a beast!"
But they earned their buffet; you're still at the feast.
Did you ever play your part????
Look at Japan, bombed and burned flat.
Now they're selling sushi and robots—how about that?
South Korea? Oh, they’re k-pop and tech kings,
While you're here debating the important things.
Rwanda said, "Chaos, take a seat,"
And built unity from defeat.
But you? You've got WiFi and endless tweets,
Yet still can't move from your comfy seats.
It's true! Isn't it???
Even on Steemit, the pattern's the same:
“Vote for me, please!” a begging game.
Integrity’s lost, fairness a ghost,
But excuses? Oh, they're your daily toast.
You make me so angry 😡
So rise up, shake off the dust,
Or just admit you like the rust.
Life’s not all good, but it's not all bad,
And effort beats whining (even if it’s rad).
C'mon, for a change...
Who is this "you"?
It’s me, you, or anyone who hasn’t truly given their best and keeps complaining about unfairness, poverty, and life in general!
On a personal level.
On an international level.
I’m not saying there’s no corruption.
I’m not saying dishonesty doesn’t exist.
I’m not saying injustice isn’t real.
It is there, it has always been there.
But it’s not new; it’s always existed.
And the people and nations who changed their fate may or may not have done many things, but they surely worked hard. And I refuse to believe that hard work, honesty, determination, and perseverance ever go in vain.
Whenever my children come to me and say that they've faced some unfair treatment, or they think they have been wronged, I always ask them one question: Why do you think that is? Is there any personal grudge the person has against you? Or was it you who was responsible for this kind of treatment?
Again... I’m not saying that there are no bullies around, and yet again I’m not saying this world is a fair place! It has never been one!!! But self-reflection is very important. These are indeed the questions worth asking. And you are bound to find answers to at least half of them...
