The tree tuner is an Argentine film in co-production with Mexico, written and directed by Natalia Smirnoff, starring Paola Barrientos, Marcelo Subiotto and Diego Cremonesi, among others. With a scale of 06/10.
Clara Mains (Paola Barrientos) is a successful writer and illustrator of children's stories, whom we see receiving the most prestigious prize in the field, in Mexico, with her husband Francisco (Marcelo Subiotto) and her children, Violeta and Lisandro.
Back in Buenos Aires, they move to a house away from the noise of the city with the intention that Clara can recover her creativity and inspiration to work on her new material, away from the city of fury. Upon arrival, the sudden resignation of a woman who helped her with the house chores, but at the same time it suits her, falls like cold water, as this game guides her to a reunion with Ariel (Diego Cremonesi), who knew to be his first love of youth, and with Carlos (Matías Scarvaci), the brother of the latter, who is currently the priest of the church of his hometown. Clara will begin an encounter with herself that will make her rethink, in many ways, the life she led until that moment.
Spectacularly careful in every detail, Natalia Smirnoff's new film, being the third one that directs and writes, proposes us to dive from Clara's point of view, the crisis after having met the goals and achieved success, that existential question of “ And now what? ”, Which Clara had to consider long before but it is never too late to find answers. The contrast of the sounds of the forest with the pleasant silences manages to catch the protagonist in that approach he came looking for, connecting her with her roots in returning to the town that saw her born. Clara is inspired to make her stories from another place, helping Carlos in the church.
The character that composes Paola Barrientos may seem indecipherable at times and very predictable in others, however, it is completely understandable since connecting with his place of upbringing and produces many questions. While we haven't seen Paola on the big screen or girl a long time ago, it's a pleasant return to the movie theaters for the actress.
A story of self-discovery, simple but that reaches the heart of the viewer without many turns, while telling a nice simple story that money does not make happiness and that it is often preferable to give up those habits that become custom to be able to Finding what really makes us happy, and along the way you can change the lives of other people.
