Writing training for Steemians in Lhokseumawe, Aceh, a year ago.

Writing competitions are often held in various countries with various forms of writing and various themes. Determination of the theme in a writing competition is common so that the writing is more focused. Sometimes using certain moments such as World Press Freedom Day, Earth Day, Aids Day, Mom’s Day, Dad’s Day, and so on. Every day there are celebrations, there are no empty days.

Not always the theme is in accordance with the fields that we master. Educational background is not always an option.

For scripts that want to be included in the competition, it is better to be clean from such mistakes. Since I was a teenager, every time I had a race I always followed it. Some of them won, but actually more failed. From this experience, in participating in writing competitions including IndonesiaChallenge # 6 whose writing is based on a blog, Steemians can guide the following points:

Fame_12.jpg

  1. We recommend writing a script on a laptop or computer to make it easier to type and edit it. Error typing on smart phones is very possible because of the small screen, especially for those who are not accustomed to using the touch screen.

  2. Although not making an outline about writing (outline problems can be read at the link https://steemit.com/writing/@ayijufridar/should-outline-before-writing-or-require-outline-seb before-writing-or-ayomenulis03) , every important point you want to write is complete in your head. Therefore, it is important to collect every data related to the tourist destination needed. Do not until after uploading photos, confused about what to write and how.

  3. Plagiarism is a discussion that has already been completed. Unlawful. But, experience with my students, they have a more sophisticated way. Other people's writings are guided, imitated recitation styles and so on, then modified by adding and subtracting in some sections.
However, my students are even more sophisticated by mutilating other people's writing. Not only is the composition of the paragraph changed, but also the sentence structure, the name of the resource person, and only retains the substance of the message to the reader. Writing mutilations does require a little skill and effort. I always say, the resources spent are better spent writing with your own thoughts.
Posts with a similar theme, can indeed be used as a reference to enrich our writing. But don't admit that other people's writings are ours. It could be, in a race with a theme of a tourist destination, there will be the same location. The sea, waterfalls, rivers, are plural destinations. However, with different angles, the beauty of writing will be different. Many painters became Balinese as objects, but their beauty remained different.

  4. We recommend that you do not read posts that have entered if it will indeed affect our writing. I often do this when reviewing a film. If I read an existing reviewer, I am worried that it will affect my writing. If after all, there are the same angle of analysis, it's purely from one's own thoughts. The delivery method is definitely different.
However, if you feel the need to read to see the advantages and disadvantages of other people's posts to be used as a reference so that the writing itself becomes better, not a problem. Each writer has a different attitude and not necessarily suitable for application. Discover your own formula by multiplying to write and enter the race.

  5. Use all the senses when in a tourist destination. Listen to the roar of the waves, the sound of the river, the chirping of the birds, the gust of the wind, the rustling of the leaves, the cry of visitors, and so on. Write in detail so that the reader can feel the coolness of the air. Move the beauty of a tourist destination into written language. It takes a deep appreciation and adequate vocabulary to deliver beauty in the form of writing as beautiful as the original color. Kalam stuck in writing, multiply reading. Then write again until the writing is complete.
Has Steemians watched the film The Revenant (2016) played by Leonardo DiCaprio? The actor received an Oscar for best male cast of 2017, completing a number of other awards obtained by The Revenant. In an interview, director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu said he wanted the audience to feel the shivering weather. And that we feel among other things when we see snow hardening in Leonardo's rough terrain.

  1. Write also the surrounding geographical conditions. How to get to the location, how many are from the nearest town, and what means of transportation can be used and how much does it cost. Also the choice of accommodation and costs. This is a guide for readers who want to visit.

  2. In addition to writing beauty, also include constructive criticism that must be corrected by the government or management authority. For example, toilet cleanliness or difficulty in getting toilets, food prices are not uniform in every cafe and this is often seen in tourist destinations in Aceh, or the number of pickpockets (if in Aceh there are none). Or mention also the location of the tour is open how many hours so that visitors get a clear picture. The author of the book "Naked Traveler", Trinity, campaigns for rubbish problems at tourist sites in his book. Trinity, who has visited 80 countries, not only writes about beauty, but encourages visitors to take care of the cleanliness of tourist destinations.

  3. Use complete photos and tell stories. Because photos are a scoring aspect, use only the best photos. If there are other writings that only photograph the beauty of the sea with its white sand, there's no harm in getting up earlier to be able to take pictures of the rising sun or waiting patiently for the sunset. This will give more value to our photos.

  4. If there is still time (the deadline for the competition in Steemit is seven days), keep writing for a few hours or one or two days so that when editing it we have a different mood. Maybe after the mind is fresher, we realize we have passed some important details. If there are friends who have editing capabilities, there is no harm in correcting each other. Use the community to support each other the beauty of writing and photos.

Those are some things that I have summarized based on experience so far. Of course it's not complete because the experiences of other writers can be different. Here we can share with each other.

A star is born from a tiered competition, as well as in the world of writing. If you have never entered a competition, you will never know the quality of your writing. Competition creates a healthy atmosphere to develop, giving birth to the spirit to mobilize all the best abilities.

In a race there is definitely a win - lose and that's normal. Winners don't be overly proud because it will turn off motivation. Victory must be the fuel to produce quality work. While those who haven't won don't despair. Disappointed in my opinion is natural, humane. But do not be too long dissolved in disappointment. Learn what the advantages of posting winners. What made the writing and the photo different so that the jury chose it as the winner.

Finally, I want to say that there really isn't any bad writing. However, the authors have not worked optimally to produce good writing. This is not just a message of encouragement, but indeed it is only a secret in the written world, as is the secret in this life.[]
