Spending hours putting together Chinese made toys for your kids, duh!

The wife had pestered me for the past month prior to Christmas Day about getting our daughter a play kitchen set. I was wary for two reasons. One, she has enough toys to play with for the rest of her life and we definitely don't need any more clutter in our house. Two, $180 for a fake kitchen? Get real. So when Amazon dropped the price of one down to 80 bucks, I bit the bullet and probably made my wife happier than ultimately our daughter.

When the box arrived I brought it downstairs and cut open the tape to see what I was in store for. This first picture made me walk back up stairs and grab a beer...this was going to be time consuming.

Oh Joy! At this moment I am 100% questioning my decision to buy this thing. Isn't there someone I can pay 10 bucks to do this for me? No? Ok, I guess I'm SOL.

Parts and pieces of plastic in different boxes with screws, nuts, and bolts scattered about. I would be surprised if the directions were written by anyone older than 10 years old with more than a second grade education in English. Luckily the main components were numerically labeled fairly well and I made sure to do a good job of keeping all the little screws and such in order as to not misplace any.

3 beers and 3 hours later with some really sore knees and an aching back, it was finished!

Ok, ok, ok, so the wife called me out on some of the screws showing on the front being different colors, silver and white. Well, to ship this the way they did, they had to acclimate space for the screws and ended up having more than one letter for a specific type of screw. The problem is that they don't tell you that. So letter 'B' screw for example had 2 locations on the pack, but one was with a white head and the other silver. By the time you're done assembling the thing though, the last thing you're willing to do is take it apart so the screw head colors match. If you were willing to do that, then you are a Saint. I am not ;)

I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and hopefully even more your time with family and loved ones, which is the real REAL reason for the season.

LOL!

A year ago Christmas, I put together TWO different kitchen sets... One for our great-granddaughter, and one for my brother's bride's granddaughter...

I feel your pain! :O

😄😇😄

@creatr

You have more patience than I, my friend. Nice work though, I’m sure they greatly appreciated it the way my daughter does.

Our great granddaughter plays with her kitchen set almost every time she comes over to our home. I haven't heard any reports about how much my brother's wife's granddaughter uses hers, however... but her actually was a higher quality, wooden material set. She is a fairly precocious child that I interacted with quite a bit at the wedding, and so I suspect she has put it to good use!
