Banana cue

Banana Cue is one of the most loved street food in the Philippines. “Saba” banana is only key element of this dish. It is a fruit usually grows in a tropical climate such as the Philippines. It is mostly used for culinary purposes because of its sweet and delicious. Banana cue is widely sold on the street. You can find someone selling this in front of their house or peddling around the street. Banana Cue is made of fried banana on bamboo skewers and the most consumed as a mid-afternoon snack. People can’t resist this because aside from being delicious it is also nutritious.

Ingredients
10 pcs. semi-ripe or ripe Saba Banana
¼ cup brown sugar
2 cups Vegetable cooking oil
10 pcs bamboo skewers

Instructions

1.In a large wok at high flame heat cooking oil, when hot, drop the bananas and fry for about 2 minutes or until they start to slightly brown.

2.Sprinkle the brown sugar and let it stand without stirring.

3.When the sugar starts to caramelize, start stirring the bananas to have it coated with caramelized sugar.

4.Continue frying, stirring several times to have the bananas fully coated with caramelized sugar. Turn the heat off once the bananas are cook through, do not overcook.

5.Drain in Fry Skimmer Strainer or Colander or deep bowl with paper towel to remove excess oil.

6.Skewer two bananas in a bamboo stick while they slightly cool down.

7.Serve.
