Shortbread

Greetings friends ... yesterday afternoon I prepared a recipe that I have been making since I was a child, maybe 9 or 10 years old, I read it in a children's magazine whose name I do not remember, but I remember every part of its preparation , today I want to share it with you.

The recipe is very easy to make and it will take approximately 30 minutes for the whole preparation, for this we will need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 Egg
  • 6 Tablespoons of Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1 Teaspoon of baking powder
  • One lemon juice (optional)
  • Oil for frying.
  • Wheat flour

Preparation:

1) In a bowl add the egg, sugar, oil, lemon juice and baking powder.


2) Stir with a spoon until the mixture is homogeneous.


3) The wheat flour is added little by little, stirring between tablespoon and tablespoon until the spoon can no longer be used.


4) Add more flour little by little, kneading gently until you reach a soft dough that does not stick to your fingers.


5) The donuts are spread on a floured plate. It is preferable to make the donuts before starting to fry, since this last step is really fast and requires a lot of attention.


6) The cauldron with oil is preheated to medium heat.

7) We know that it has the correct temperature when dropping a bit of dough, it immediately floats.


8) The sprays are placed in the oil (be careful to avoid burns), they will begin to brown and grow, when you see that they have some gold on the bottom they are turned and they finish frying on the other side.


9) They are removed from the fire and placed to drain or on absorbent paper.

10) Finally they are allowed to cool down to consume. They can be stored in the refrigerator and consumed cold.


The original recipe contemplated sprinkling sugar on the sprays when placing them to drain, I have ignored this step and I put 2 tablespoons more sugar to the preparation (I like more candy :-)), however it is a matter of experimenting on the base recipe. They can be consumed with coffee for afternoon snack. I love to accompany them with cheese, the sweet salty combination is fantastic

As you have seen the recipe is very simple and can be done in the company of the children of the house, the little hands that appear in the photo are my daughter's 5 years.
