A sandwich is very versatile as you can prepare one using almost any ingredient and influence that you prefer. For this recipe we will be adding some spice and color to the sandwich and we will be using meatballs.
Ingredients:
500g ground lamb meat
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp paprika (optional)
1 tsp Harissa
a bunch of coriander leaves and stalks, finely chopped
For the Harissa mayo:
mayonnaise
Harissa
For Serving:
hot dog buns
Pickled cucumber
fresh lettuce leaves
Method
With the ground lamb in a large bowl add in the ground cumin, ground coriander, harissa paste, a little pepper and the finely chopped fresh coriander leaves. Mix it all up to combine all the flavors. No need to add salt as some of the ingredients are already salty.
Meatballs: Heat a pan with the oil. Meanwhile roll and shape the meat mixture into golf sized balls using your hands. Cook the meatballs into the pan until golden brown and turn until cooked through. Cover the pan with a lid, the pan should be medium heat. Let the meatballs cook for five to seven minutes.
Mayo: In a small bowl combine the mayo and harissa paste until well mixed, you can put some paprika powder if desired. Prepare the hotdog rolls in a plate or rectangular cardboard.layer them with a few pieces of lettuce leaves and arranged the meatballs in. Top with pickled cucumber, Sprinkle some finely chopped fresh coriander leaves and the harissa mayo.
If you do not have lamb you may use pork or any kind of meat you like. There is no need to use an egg or crumbs to bind the mixture. Others prefer to add some thinly sliced carrots and turmeric powder for some nice color. For the meatballs others love to add some garlic and little bits of onions.
