I love finding ways to make products I enjoy at home so I can control the ingredients that go in my food.
I hate preservatives, dyes, and all those unhealthy additives found in common snack foods. I've always had a sweet spot for Kelloggs Pop-Tarts though and enjoy the chocolate flavored ones.
Out of boredom one day I decided to seek out a recipe to make my own Pop-Tarts that taste just as delicious as the store bought ones.
I tried several different recipes but then came across this recipe at...
https://www.halfbakedharvest.com/homemade-chocolate-fudge-poptarts/
This was the recipe I was looking for. The chocolate Pop-Tarts came out wonderful and I often make a big batch to freeze. I take a pop-tart out of the freezer and pop it in the toaster anytime I need a fix.
Aren't They Chocolatey and Beautiful?
I Got A Little Overenthusiastic With The Chocolate On These
This batch I used the inside filling on the top because I was too lazy to make the frosting normally found on pop-tarts. If you check out the recipe you'll understand why mine don't look like Kellogg's ones. My favorite part is the dough. The dough is basically a chocolate pie crust dough. Sometimes I make chocolate pie crust for things like chocolate pie or peanut butter pies. Having a chocolate flavored crust adds another dimension to different desserts.
If you like to cook and love desserts I highly recommend this recipe. The dough alone can be used for wonderful pies and pop-tarts of different flavors.
Are gounkidsing me! chocolate Pop-Tarts ...
Mouth watering dear. You send some across to a lonely hommie! Good one...keep it up...

I made these before but with a vanilla crust and Nutella filling! I think I like your chocolate crust better!

Mmmmmmm, chocolate.... and I'll bet yours taste better than the commercial ones, too. Home-made is always better.

I miss pop-tarts!
Even if I could handle the gluten the artificial ingredients scare me away.
I wonder if a recipe exists that uses primarily coconut flour. Thanks for the idea :)

Yummy looking. You should consider selling some of your food creations for extra cash if your willing to make some bulk batches. I know I'd buy some. And speaking of coconut flour our local walmart has a bunch on the discount rack you might check if the price is a good deal right now.
