In 6th August 1945 the bomb exploded over japan, killing more then 100000 people. Sadako was only two then, soon she was diagnosed with leukemia a type of cancer. She knew she would not live any longer. The next day Sadako's friend told her that she read a legend about folding paper cranes, once you get up to a thousand using origami the gods will release your torment.

She folded as much cranes as possible, each day she folded 50 cranes, her mother even started to consider what she was up to. In 1955 purple spots have formed on her legs, the doctors say that she has no hope of surviving, at least she is hospitalized for one more year of life. By the time she found out there was no hope, she was already lying in bed knowing she is going to die, but she has only folded 987 cranes. She has to fold another 13 cranes and she knew she cannot make it to her death.

She died on 25 October 1955. The rest of the paper cranes were made by her friends. They soon in 1956 published a book about sadako and how she suffered from nuclear weapon's explosion. The book became famous all over japan. They made a statue of her with thousands of paper cranes around it. She is a symbol of peace to the world, and the countries that is still fighting for rights.

On 26th of 2016 the American and Japanese national museum was opened. With donations all over the world. Hoping everyone can have peace.
