Reddit Social Skills (#5) When To Ask Someone Out (With Aspergers)

A reddit user with aspergers asked “when to ask someone out?”

He goes on,

“Firstly, I’d like to say I have aspergers, so please be as accurate as possible since social interactions are not intuitive to me.

So I’ve been hanging around with this girl lately. I don’t know whether she wants me to be her friend or more and I actually do not care as long as I can interact with another human being.

She reached out to me first, and she asked me out first, and then later she basically reproached me for not having invited her back. I apologized but now I don’t know how and when I’m supposed to [ask her out].

Do I have to send her a raw, ‘hey wanna hang out?’ or introduce it with small talk, or something else?

And what if she says no, or that she’s busy, what am I supposed to say?

I’m sorry for having to task that, it seems trivial and natural for pretty much everyone except my autistic ass.”
