The network is rigged. Even the steem whitepaper reveals that the platform has been set up in favour of those at the top, using the same system to rope smaller people (with less money) into producing content. They describe it as a lottery, where they hold up the picture of one person with lots of money – and everyone else assumes that they can do it too.
This should change. A decentralised social media network, which rewards publishers is encouraging. But one which rewards a few publishers in demoralising. This platform is more than a social media site, it's decentralisation at its best. But if only a few whales get all the rewards then we become centralised.
We need to push for measures to stop this:
- Equal upvotes for all – and I know that this will be made available through smart media tokens (I intend to launch one, where everyone's vote counts the same), but they haven't launched and they're not featured on exchanges so they are harder to cash out.
- A wealth cap. One where no-one can earn more than 100x more of the reward pool than anyone else, with excess money given to steemit (so new accounts can be created).
We need these measures to gain publicity. Resteems and upvotes will help massively. Any money I make will go towards downvoting @haejin.
