According to a statement from the country's navy, the refugees rescued from the north-western Khomas 26 miles away from the sea were rescued. Their carrying boat sank.

Libya's central government collapses in 2011. Since then the country's northwestern coast has turned into an important route to illegal immigrants. Using this route, refugees are passing through Italy and other European countries.

Every year hundreds of thousands of refugees are passing through dangerous seas and passing through European countries. Many people are losing their lives in the sea. Most of the refugees who traveled through Libya to Italy and European countries are mostly African nationals.
