The punk band The Ruts was founded in London in 1978 by four school friends. The Ruts were against the British National Front and gave numerous concerts at Rock Against Racism events. Unfortunately the singer Malcom Owen died in 1980 from an overdose of heroin, so the name of the band was changed to The Ruts DC (Da Capo). The success failed and the band broke up in 1983.
