110 percent agree and I am really smiling re (reggae is in the blood). I made a post and forgot to mention Cannabis/Weed/Ganja and was warn by weedcash. I would like to answer like that too re weed.. Hanging in my business is a sign that said SACRAMENTAL YARD
Weed is in my blood. At the entrance of my restauranct is a sign that read SACRAMENTAL YARD. I am a co founder of the first Ganja farmer association in Jamaica. It is called, Westmoreland Hemp and Ganja Farmers Association and current chairman of said organisation.. At any given time of day chances are you can find one person in the yard enjoying his sacrament.... The weedcash people would not know that but for us here in Jamaica, when we here or see a man name himeself IRIE we assume rightly or wrongly he has something to do with the Jamaican culture or REGGAE MUSIC in particular.
Now he or she could be just a tourist that at sometime fell in love with Jamaica or the culture and want to identify with it and that is the way he see or choose to do so.. We at ReggaeSteem would like to welcome that man not only welcome that man but said a big: (hail the man).
One of the goal we would like to achieve with ReggaeSteem it to get Jamaica, our visitors, tourist and friends to start feel and express irie and one love vibes again. Those were some of the words that cause people the world over to sell their belongs and move to Jamaica in the mid and late 70's. Any where you are in this great big world and certain words are spoken chances are Jamaica have an influence on it..
Bumboocloth, rasscloth, irie, one love, pusseycloth, yeahman just to name a few.. You guys may know the Bob Marley story and Ethopia when he tried to get in. The story goes like this he went into an embassy in a nearly country to get visa to get into Ethopia. The embassy rejected his application an his way out he started to unleash some bumboocloth while walking down the street away from the embassy. Moving along he could hear a man shout in the distance yardman yardman sound got loader as the man got closer. The guy that was chasing him did not know he was Bob Marley but he heard the bumboocloth and the accent and knew that must be a Jamaican. He living in a foreign country, he was glad to know another Jamaican was there. He eventually caught up with Bob. He introduce himself and told Bob that he heard him using the word bumboocloth and he knew it must be a Jamaican...He told him he is Bob Marley and he went into the Embassy to get a visa to go to Ethiopia and was turned down. To cut the story short the guy took him back inside and he got the visa....
I said all that to say a man with the name Super-irie is one we should like to encourage to continue posting because I know he belongs to our community. Not talking Super-irie now but lots of Jamaicans are going to come and join our community and it is going to take a time for them to understand STEEM fully. I know they are going to make alot of mistakes @donald.porter @dmilliz and my self will have to get a programme in place to bring them up to speed because this not like the other social medias..
The Jamaican culture and music is accommodative. I saw another great Jamaica musician Willard White was on tv about 3 years ago. He said he was on his way to Barbados. At custom the officer ask what do you do sir? He replied, I am a Jamaican baritone singer.... He said the office stamp his passport and said you fucking Jamaicans you guys are in everything.. I think there is a space here for Willard White and others as long as they are not abusing the community in any way. Jamaican musical repertoire is vast and varied and we want to onboard as many as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to share some of these insights and stories here on my post. I appreciate this and feel as though Jamaica has become a part of me over the years- the people, the vibes, the food, the reggae music, the cool rastamon with alias names; the brain doctor, michiganz and blackz (from SKA), blue, to name a few.
The Jamaican roots are in me and they always will be because I have seen, experienced, and been a part of the culture many a times I have visited and become one with the island and the values the Jamaican people share. Never a bad time, always a good one.
I will certainly be continuing to post to reggaesteem to show and share my love - the one love. I hope to learn the ins and outs as I do, and again, I thank you for welcoming me to the community with such wipe open and embracing arms.
Respect, irie, seeeeen rastaaaa, and the like
