And as everything has its end, this is the end but not final, is the end of the series of post that I have been doing on the SKA, of the musical genres of Jamaica. I've already told you about the Mento, now the Ska and other musical genres are missing.
Ska in Latin America.
We're not in Jamaica anymore, we're going to Latin America where Ska starts to be heard and winning fans to this genre. In 1948 some Argentine boys "che", exactly 8, created a musical band, LOS CADILLAC, a band that quickly became famous, one of the most popular ska bands in Latin America. Although they hardly play ska anymore, they did have a lot to contribute and help the progress of the music, adding Latin rhythms like cumbia and salsa.
But we in Venezuela also have a band that represents us with the SKA genre, so it arises: Desorden Público, who are dedicated to experimenting with other rhythms.
There are also bands in Spain, France, Mexico and Chile that add some calypso and Latin jazz to the music.
There are few bands left that play SKA in Argentina, that carry the traditional spirit. A newer band that is back with a new album are Los Calzones, from Bariloche, with a friendly ska, party and footballer.
Where there are many bands Ska is in the United States we have for example: Dance Hall Crashers, Mephiskapheles, Mustard Plug, The Insteps, The Pietasters, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Undercover S.K.A., Reel Big Fish, Save Ferris, Parka Kings, Telegraph, Skapone, Gangsters Fun, etc..
Here fell, a video of Public Disorder, with its theme Alla Cayó, je je
