Hmmmmm SOCIAL MEDIA "the effects and the adverse effect"

Social media has made the world a much smaller place- we used to say this about globalisation!

People now call themselves friends without knowing each other physically, from posts, comments, likes, pictures we decide who we want to be friends with, but this does not remove a critical element of friendship, one that makes another decide whether or not to take the friendship to another level. That element is Trust.

Personally I engage with a lot of persons and I am free to an extent and because it is virtual, I don't need more information than has been given on the friend's page. I would however need much more before we become 'real friends. In addition, once this virtual friend makes a request for help - financial or otherwise, straightaway my instincts are on high alert. I ask myself- is the need genuine? Is this person trustworthy?

I am sure that so many other persons are like me. Nobody wants to be a victim of fraud. Nobody wants to be taken for a fool.
So if you request for help and this is not forthcoming, it could be because the person is not sure that your request is genuine. Personally I prefer to help in kind rather than cash. I also prefer to help persons that I can see so that I know for sure that help is required. I believe very strongly in helping someone to fish rather than give them fishes- this approach is more sustainable.
Unfortunately because of some fraudulent persons that continue to prey on unsuspecting people, alot of people are cautious. So if you have a genuine need and people are not forthcoming or ready to help, please don't lose faith in your fellow human beings rather think about their concerns and how you may address this properly!
