Found this quote on Real Talk Kim's page on instagram, and I must say that this is one of the best quotes I've read on relationships in a very long time! It says it all. So I thought to share my thoughts on this for a bit, beginning with this first part.

Someone once told me years back, that if you are praying for God to bless you, one of the greatest answers to that prayer is THE BLESSING OF VALUABLE RELATIONSHIPS! Because by knowing and having the right people in the right places, you really don't require money for everything! All you'll be needing is FAVORS!

One other valuable lessons I learned about relationships is to ALWAYS CREATE ROOM FOR REPEAT RELATIONSHIPS! This means that it is important for you, especially if it is the first time you are dealing with someone (whoever they are), to properly ensure, not just to leave a good and lasting impression, but also a strong desire to maintain the relationship with you. This should hold very strongly for you if you are a business person. But really, no matter what you do, always remember that PEOPLE ARE VALUABLE ASSETS!

I remember learning another very valuable wisdom a long time ago that RELATIONSHIPS ARE LIKE DOORS, hence, it matters how you close them. Because you might need to go through those doors later in life, so if you don't close them right, you won't be able to go through them again, and you'll end up taking a longer route to your destination which was just a door away.

In sales and marketing, it is said that "your NETWORTH is only as good as your NETWORK"! How true! We need to begin to take very seriously our relationships! I have watched people jeopardize years of trusted relationship for momentary and selfish gains. How can you recover Trust again? Some doors (people) are like jam-locks, if you don't close them properly, you WILL NEVER be able to get through them again, and if you try to force anything, you might end up damaging a good part of the door, which further or permanently messes up everything!

I like to also point out the fact that NOBODY IS PERFECT, everyone has something about themselves that they are working on, and yes we might fall below the expectations of others and even ourselves sometimes. Hence, it is understandable that issues may arise within our relationships from time to time. But one thing I always remind myself of is this:

NEVER MAKE A PERMANENT DECISION ON ANYTHING THAT IS TEMPORAL OR SUBJECT TO CHANGE!

So before you take a walk out of the door, because of anything you've probably encountered wrongly, ask yourself these questions:

How valuable is this to me?
What are the potentials this relationship holds?
How have I (we) played a role in getting us to this point?
Is this subject to change? Can it be improved upon?
Can we have an understanding?

I bet that you'll most likely be taking a step in the right direction when you go through these thought processes.

I pray that our eyes our opened to see the blessings in the relationships that we have.
