One of the best ways to save yourself from carrying unnecessary emotional garbage as a single is to develop the "next" mindset.
The "next" mindset is a simple paradigm where you refuse to think too long about any relationship partner who rejects you and, instead, move on to connect with better people who share your values.
It's a fact that not all dating relationships will result in a lifetime commitment.
It's a reality that's hard to swallow, but that doesn't make it less real. Ignoring this fact is like refusing to acknowledge
that if you jump from a plane without a parachute, you will definitely crash.
A lot of singles especially ladies hold on far too long to dating partners who ditch them or try to take advantage of them, instead of moving on fast. They try to analyze why their effort did not work or why their love wasn't reciprocated.
While it's a good thing to improve and learn from your mistakes, you can't afford to stay still. You must move on and create space for people who really need you. The longer you wait to move on, the deeper the perceived "failure" sinks into your brain, making it harder to move forward.
Hollywood has perpetuated the myth of dwelling on 'romantic' failure. It's total nonsense. Why dwell on a partner who is not interested in you in the first place? It doesn't make sense.
Anyone who has decent success with a current relationship can learn from his/her mistake, but also condition himself or herself to move on when the relationship doesn't go as planned.
