As I walked around Barnes and Noble, looking for my next read, I noticed couples walking around and some reading together at the Starbucks tables.
"What a dream to have a mate that loves to read just as much as I."
But then again, I am a dreamer.
What a cool cover, Invisible Influence – The Hidden Forces That Shape Behavior. When you tilt the book, it's that type of plastic two dimensional cover, where if looked at one way it has one message and then when tilted the other, it showed “Everyone’s Reading It!”
I am not sure if it was just a marketing influential message that persuaded me to buy it, but sure enough, it worked! Yesterday, I picked up the book and began to read. On the first chapter, it began by talking about how humans as similar close primates naturally mimic everyone around them. In a study that was conducted in Parma, Italy as Jonah Berger begins to explain, how it was all discovered because of an ice cream cone. There locked and attached to neuron reading devices, sat a macaque monkey, the devices would go off every time neuron activity was registered from the monkey. For example, if the monkey would put his hand in his mouth the device would beep and register the activity, if the monkey scratched him self, it would beep in the same and register. Then one day someone walked in the room holding an ice cream cone and the monkey stared as the human was putting it in his mouth and the device went off and registered neurological activity, even though the monkey was not moving it was registering activity.
Interesting enough, the reason why is because biologically the body was sending the same messages to the brain even though we might not be performing those actions. Registering that event happened, making us react or feel a certain way. Well what does that have to do with couples and how they look the same in time?
As we spend more and more time with our partners, we begin to mimic them throughout life. As we experience sadness and cry with them, laugh with them and have conversations with them about anything, we begin to mimic their expressions too. Just as a smile gives you smile lines, and a confused look the lines between our eye brows or even develop crows feet from the many different expressions we will make, we begin to develop the same lines in our faces. With time, these expression lines and similar environmental damage caused to our skin specially our faces begin to be more and more prominent giving the similarities that people see when people see couples that look similar. “Couples who look more alike over time also report having better marriages… But years of subtly mimicking each other has not only made them happier, it’s made them look more similar as well.”
There you have it!

Thank you so much, I know I've been quite quiet. But every time I travel and I get out of my regular schedule, I tend to get quiet. I kind of just decompressed from everything. Then I think about new topics and like you said bam, I write a new blog.

This is how it should go, let it come to you naturally and it will be more real. This is how I do it, just let it flow don't try too hard ;)
I still can't believe you brought up this wonderful topic. If Steemit gave out awards for "best blogs of the month" this month would be f0r you ;)

Don't pinch me...
I'm still dreaming too!
You are Good Girl, getting attention visually, but MOSTLY MENTALLY for me at least. You are right, the book cover is brilliant! Now I might have to stop at Barnes and Noble and check it out with a cup of Starbucks.

Interesting... I have always felt that "opposites may attract, but it's similarities that glue people together," and this gives a little more tangible reason for why people in long happy relationships often come across as somewhat similar.
Thanks for sharing!

I believe it leans more towards the "intimate" side of things. The more intimate(if you know what I mean) you are with one another, the more you start to look alike. Because you know, you are what you eat ;)

I personally find your story interesting, all round truth be known. I think your first post on here I read when you came onto the platform was pretty different and I liked that.
I was wondering if you were going to tie this topic to how people look like their dogs too, I cannot lie LOL

Thank you. I don't know about humans and dogs, since our facial features don't match those of a dog.... although maybe if men learned anything about dogs... is to be faithful. hahahah
