2 Samuel 9:6-8
6 Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the
son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his
face, and did reverence. And David said,
Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!
7 And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will
surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's
sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy
father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table
continually.
8 And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy
servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead
dog as I am?
How do you think of God? Do you think of yourself as a dead dog before Him? Many times our thoughts about how God sees us is distorted and wrong. By visiting the scriptures daily we can learn more about God and let go of our distortions of Him.
God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others as David did for Mephibosheth. When we are a blessing to others we help them take away their negative or distorted views about how God sees them. The grace of God is received by us and then flows to those we know and meet. God shows me grace, so I am gracious to others.
Mephibosheth was living in shame and fear and did not know David's intentions to him, so he lived in obscurity. We can have a similar relationship with God if we are full of sin and haven't let go of any fears and bitterness towards God. God will show you His grace, will forgive you, will bless you and restore you in full if you come to Him in humility and repentance. It is more than just the forgiveness of your sins; you are justified before God by the grace of Jesus Christ.
Romans 6:13-14
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of
unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto
God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your
members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye
are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 3:23-26
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory
of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation
through faith in his blood, to declare his
righteousness for the remission of sins that are
past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness:
that he might be just, and the justifier of him
which believeth in Jesus.
John 1:17
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and
truth came by Jesus Christ.

Dear @deathlyhorror,
Thank you for this wonderful symbolic picture of God's grace.
King Saul and King David were admired as warrior kings. In that culture, Mephibosheth, being lame and unable to engage in battle, would be considered a dead dog who would have to beg for food.
David, as a type of the Messiah, raised up Mephibosheth to a place of honor by having him dine at his table. Mephibosheth, as a type of a sinner who is dead in his sins and trespasses, receives David's unmerited favor.
One day, all believers will dine at the king's table at the Wedding Feast of the Lamb because of God's amazing grace.
Shalom, Steven Sherman @lastdays

It is only by Grace we are saved through faith and not of ourselves. It is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast.
Thanks for the write up.

Am inspired more by this phrase;
This is how we as a church are supposed to always respond to the freely given grace of God to us.
The bible also says that
Therefore the more mercy we show to others is the more of it we receive from God.
Thanks so much for sharing @deathlyhorror.

Messages like the one you wrote today, remind us that it is by grace that we are saved, that it is by grace that God looks at us with different eyes, in spite of being sinners, by messages like these, we can remember that Jesus already did it everything for us and his precious blood justified us, but also gave us value before him and the father.
It is beautiful to know that Jesus looks with love on our lives and that he extends his forgiveness.
God bless you every day more @deathlyhorror.

That is very true, life without God's grace can be very terrible but
with a humble heart like that of Mephibosheth one can benefit immensely from God's grace.

We are blessings to others because the grace in our lives is very much sufficient to spread to others. Lets try to be our brothers keeping we never know what our words or action can impact in our neighbours lives.
