My follow up to last weeks post is still in the works...
So today's Sunday post is one of my favorite examples of great and effective teaching...
There is no fanfare, no glam, no glitz, no soap-boxing or pushiness.
Only once the subject (the Samaritan woman at the well) has expressed a willingness to learn by questioning the uniqueness of the situation does Christ begin his teaching. Just simple strait forward getting the message across and allowing it to sink in.
The entire lesson is a dance, with the teacher (Christ) building each layer of understanding one upon the other. Each step is countered with only a slight step further... waiting to gauge the receptiveness of the student before continuing.
The subject is given sufficient space an time to discover things for herself.
I have put up the KJV version of it, because I just love the beauty of the KJV English when read aloud... the KJV was translated at the time before most people could read so one of the main aims of the KJV was to ensure they produced an English translation that would flow and sound good when read aloud.
For other KJV videos click on the source below the video.
Well done!
And, if this woman had reacted with disinterest the way some in this thread do, then Jesus would have simply moved on.
He deals only with the interested.

Religions are products of our hypocrite minds.
As we become more hypocrite thru civilisation, there will be more need for religions.

While very few practice good will and charity, it is a great virtue to help those in need, to be able to give ones life in service is a blessing for all involved in such acts.

What I know is what I have experienced. So to me it is true. If you have never experienced serving another for the sake of caring alone, then perhaps you will think it is something that one cannot know and can only wish for.

If every religion think they have the only real dogmatic truth, it is an open door to conflict and intolerance. It is a pseudo piece.

I just want to thank you for pointing out this series, it is beautifully produced! I have just finished Andreas Eschbach's "Jesus VIdeo", which painted one of my favourite pictures of the carpenter, and this one must have come pretty close.
And yes, what a rabbi...
