The evolution of Adam - Work, work and more work... did I say work?

in religion •  7 years ago

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground;

Chilling words we find in Genesis 3:19... but scientifically accurate.

It has been discovered, measured and proved that work is an integral part of this physical universe in which we live.

By Unknown - Harper's New Monthly Magazine, No. 231, August, 1869., Public Domain

There is no perpetual motion machine and energy cannot be created out of nothing.Scientifically there is no free lunch. Something has to do the work or someone has to pay.

Energy is always conserved.

Add to that, the effects of increasing entropy in this fallen world, where everything tends to fall apart, and it becomes a tough place to live, if one is not prepared to work.

Work is an absolute necessity, not only for survival but also to prosper. Some may get away with less work, but that generally comes at the expense of others.

It's because of this that life, for most of us, is tough... and its meant to be tough... We should not weep and wail and gnash our teeth, in fits of depression, every time things don't go according to plan.

There is no gain without the pain. I have heard people complain that if God is so powerful why doesn't he remove all suffering and prevent all evil?

That would be counter to the program and why we were introduced to this fallen world in the first place. As found in the Book of Mormon, a prophet explained to his son:

Nephi 2:11 For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.

Without opposites we would not be able to gain any sort of experience, to have lived. We must taste the bitter in order to truly appreciate the sweet. For every action there must be an equal and opposite reaction.

It is on the basis of this law that we either "act or are acted upon".

Work is how we act and the more we act or are proactive about things the more likely we will be able to provide for ourselves and be successful during our turn here on earth, where this fallen world throws everything it has at us.

Once we overcome we will emerge stronger and more rounded out for the experience. This is the purpose of living. Its in enduring well the tough times that character is built, and we are here to build character.

Any improvement we would have for ourselves, as the descendants of Adam, will come to us on the same basis...

"in the sweat of our face"

Great post once again @gavvet. I agree with you.
I like that you mentioned "Some may get away with less work, but that generally comes at the expense of others"
Whatever kind of work you do–whether you’re self-employed, working for someone else, or something in between–if autonomy, complexity, and a connection between effort and reward are present, it’s my belief you have a much better chance of making your work meaningful.
And if you can find meaning in your work, you’re well on your way to being the best possible version of yourself.

I always appreciate a scientific take on scripture. In today's world smaller minds seem to think the two cannot coexist. All of the greatest men of science had religion in the past. Today it is still a good number of scientific minds who are so led but I worry that our sciences are paid for by governments and religion is burned away from young minds in the cauldrons of colleges who give no real guidance. Not the words you say, but the enlightened perspective from which you see, gives me a little hope. Thanx!

If they try to take the faith out of the mind you'll always have people who know the truth and will tell it to other people. It's not possible to kill christian faith. Different government often tried it in many ways, but always failed. They burned themselves many times by trying to fight the faith. And they will fail in future too.

Where did we read about science in this article? Is seems to me it's more related to natural law and the ecosystem.

You are not seeing the laws of thermodynamics here? Natural Law is science, despite what some more modern scientists may label that term.

The conglomeration of science and religion is incredibly interesting. It puts a more logical look on religion that many people might appreciate. Especially those who struggle to see the reason behind religion.

I have to say I agree with the concept that one has to work for what you want in life. Not only is that necessary for survival but it is also important for one's self image. Instant gratification also removes the sense of accomplishment that comes from working towards goals.

Maybe you can discuss Millennials and some of the issues they may come across as they reach adulthood and how to work through them.

Opposition is the basis of the meaning of life.
In a utopian world, the decline comes at a time, because the equilibrium does not exist.
In the world we live in, the valuation of an action is done by the difficulty it provides. The easier we have the less we apreciate the result.
The very conception of the value of life depends on the opposition between good and evil. Thank you for that thought ^^

I totally agree with you, no free lunch anywhere, even in Freetown, you must work in order to eat

awesome dear! please upvote and comment my post!

But then, too much work is bad, we should remember the basics, the body itself needs rest....
Human parts are not manufactured in a factory!

2 Nephi 2. Possibly my favorite chapter! Good to see it on steemit!

One of mine too.

I always feel best when I am kept busiest. The burning of energy makes the refueling that much more enjoyable. Definitely an integral part of life!

Awesome. I love the part where you said:

'we must taste the bitter to appreciate the sweer'

If you notice, you'll find out that the you enjoy a reward better when you work for it. There is thus added satisfaction you get when you work for your reward. I believe God put it there in us. You'll appreciate an outcome better when you worked for it. It makes you see the true value of that thing.
God did not make work to kill us, but to instill in us the discipline and diligence that work produces, making you, people, and mankind as a whole better people,an in turn making this world a better place.

Exactly God did not give us work to kill us. I believe work is a good thing however I do not think we are supposed to all be depressed and miserable or on the border of suicide from our jobs.

Well said. You made an important point here. I believe people commiting suicide because of their work is a very unfortunate situation. Another thing I've noticed is that Historically, suicide rates do rise during economic downturns. The entire population is still usually experiencing the downstream effects of economic recession, coupled with the pressure from the office, and all these lead to mental stress, and then suicide.
We pray God helps us to see work as a training ground - a blessing.
God did not curse work, but rather He caused the ground. Work is a noble task. Even God works.
Thanks so much for your feed back.

Work saves us from three great evils: boredom, vice, need. So you are absolutely right work - it's energy and energy is life.

There is something to be said from succeeding through hard work. One can also make a valid argument that when people are just "given" something that they don't appreciate it as much. Whether it is through procurement of your families food, building a home or in modern times working to bring home a paycheck, there are no free rides, there is and will always be a cost for everything.

On that note, (this might be a little off subject) this idea might be changing in the future with the advent of AI. When robots start replacing humans in all industries there is a chance that we could become obsolete. there is also a chance that we could live longer more leisurely lives because we no longer have the need to perform menial tasks. What are your thoughts on this?

Many though technological revolutions of the past would render jobs obsolete but in those scenarios the nature of work just changed and new jobs emerged.

hayatım şifrelerini çözdügün an enerji de öğlen yemeginide aslında evren sana emek harcamadan verecektir

The rest of your life is easy to decrypt

google translate really butchered this one

"That would be counter to the program and why we were introduced to this fallen world in the first place". So, what is the reason why we have been introduced into this world?

" we are here to build character". Why our passage here is to build character? And for what purpose?

if you have answers to these questions, please share. I really need an answer.

You can think of life as our test to see if we can handle our physical bodies without God standing here making us make the right decisions. You can find me on Steemit.Chat if you want to know more.

Yeah sure.

This mortal phase is a tiny but not insignificant step in our eternal progression...

To build a character is not as easy as turning the palm of the hand, it all takes time and process.

Heaven is the real purpose of life for the grandchildren of adam .. to reach heaven it takes sacrifice and hard work, hopefully we get it ..

Thanks @ gavvet.

Work = Force X Distance. That's all you had to say yet you wrote all this!

Most people are put off by equations ; )

You are absolutely right! Work plays a big part in life and those who work hard will end up happy. God put all the good things in life high up and it is only those who are willing to work that will access the door to happiness and success.

Thanks for the wonderful post! Really enjoyed reading it :D

You are right, from the first if we want something that can be realized then it must work and have to make a little sacrifice either with strength or direction. do not just daydream and dream beautiful, be aware of your daydreams, then start acting with a work full of enthusiasm and achieve success.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Not all work gets to the goal, but nothing big can be accomplished without going through hard work. thank you for sharing this good post and able to build more grow.

I agree with you on work, and how without suffering their could not be enjoyment.

However, this line:

There is no perpetual motion machine and energy cannot be created out of nothing... Energy is always conserved.

Is complete crap.

The entire universe is a perpetual motion machine.
Energy is constantly put into the system, (from outside) used, and then returned (to outside).

Free energy exists in abundance. We would know this except that a small group of people want to keep us in a low vibration, a low state of energy. To keep us as cattle. To keep us under their control. Thus the whole reason for big oil.

And so, this group of people have unwritten our science books and held aloft such people as Michelson-Morley, Darwin and Einstein. All of them made up shams.

They never allow Tesla or Maxwell to be brought up. They never speak of their discoveries or their equations they worked out.

However, doing work is part of man's identity, what makes him a man. This is not a completely spiritual world, it is also a physical world. Thus, we can have the joy of getting our hands dirty.

Perhaps I belong in a feedlot in some respects then.

Too true... “Some may get away with less work, but that generally comes at the expense of others.”

You are absolutely right and well said @gavvet. You always give to us great scientific scripture. I really
like to study fro you. Some concepts got from web and read some books. Someone has to work more
and then receive some payment. Then we can buy something to eat. Without working how will we live
together currently? But Barbarians life and humans life more difference. Barbarians likes as animals
where stay. Animals and barbarians life little meaningful. They have little necessary things. But
currently situation very different before Adam`s period as you know. I we have not ready to working
any job need to leave from maybe life. Stay live more tough condition in currently and in future.
Humans need more money to if we require to live on planet. in this fact the main engine of progress in
society. If we need to success firstly planing our work and after divide work each other. Need engaged
together workers. "There is no gain without the pain" Thats great quote you showing from this post.
Thats powerful mind concept and sometimes do strong our mindset. For every action there must be an
equal and opposite reaction.

The working low basically happened act or are acted upon. Thats absolutely correct point. Definetely
all humans can win their life. But someone cannot keep mind positively always. So their lifes fall down
very earlier. It cannot acceptable. Why peoples did not try to do their skillful work? You and all us
know peoples has some born skills. We try to learn and then work our maximum limit of work i think.
There is an opposition in all things. Lot of troubles will be come to our life. If so why we fallen from
our mind? Humans have superb wisdom. Peoples need to be patience always. I think this is the
purpose of living. More valuable our life experience however. Thank you for share great learning post @gavvet.

Resteemed your post.

Without pain how can we see the essence of blessings? There are nothing easy on earth, if God remove all the suffering how can man then set to appreciate him?

Life is a challenge, do not listen to the talk of people, the important work and work. Work will produce something and while the talk will only produce an excuse. this is a clear and plain post. because from the first we are taught bitter first and then sweet.

Such a wonderful and meaningful sentence : We must taste the bitter in order to truly appreciate the sweet.
I agree with you !

Sounds kind of dogmatic. And seems the Luddite Fallacy may be about to expire. Human labor seems to be nothing more than output from an intelligent biped with human thumbs. We have the robotic bipeds and robotic hands, and by 2029 Ray Kurzweil thinks we will have the computers as smart as humans.

Great post once again. I agree with you.
I totally agree with you and appreciate a scientific take on scripture! Today it is still ayou must work in order to eat

Nice post perfect one on steemit

Thx Nice additional again. Everything started in Brabant

Even though i am an agnost, gotta say a well written post that actually makes sense, rather than the usual god exists because that's what i believe :)

@gavvet wow!

thanks bro this news

I totally agree with you @gavvet. You gave us remarkable evolution working point.
I want to eat some food from my working...Need to seek scientific books for more research.

God put all the good things in life high. connection between effort and reward are present

And that pushes me to be less lazy at work no matter if I have reward of not, sometimes they are intangible.

a very extraordinary post ... if you can know how to get that extraordinary vote like that ...?

Good one........

very good

Well, say! @gavvet

Work is an absolute necessity, not only for survival but also to prosper. Some may get away with less work, but that generally comes at the expense of others.

A very good article and just fit to understand our efforts in Steemit. The very understanding for me is that work is a process that requires the application of mental or physical effort, which aims to obtain a certain result. It is work, as a rule, that determines the social status of a person. And is, in fact, the main engine of progress in society. Work, as a phenomenon, is inherent only to living organisms and, above all, to man. Thank you @gavvet

Good po

Woww. Incredible post. I really learnt today.
Physical and mental health are adversely affected by lack of work.
I grew up being taught that there are 2 types of forces in this life: things to act and things to be acted upon just like you said. When things “just happen,” the effect is dependent upon your decisions/actions stemming from that cause.
You have a choice to make: be an agent unto yourself, or go throughout life with little to no control over your own destiny.
Make that decision early and stick to it.

Awesome @gavvet, awesome. I just wish more people will see this post, especially more Christians. The place of work in life has really been watered down in the messages we hear, and all we hear now is that God will bless you as long as you do so and so. Please don't get me wrong,am a believer and I believe in God and in blessings, but since the fall of Adam in Genesis 3,as long as you are still on this earth, you have to work to get an outcome.
As long as we are still in this fallen world, we can't do without work. The moment we accept this truth, and learn to live by it, we would find out that we would become molded into strong and determined beings, producing results and satisfying the desires we crave.
I never really looked at the scientific side to this truth, even machines do work, all we know is that work must be done, hence proving what God has said in His Word.
Such an awesome awesome piece.
I'll surely resteem this, so more people can hear this truth.

Thank you so much. You really know how to hit the nail on the head.
One of the biggest differences between humans and our animal kingdom friends is our ability to cognitively remove ourselves from the typical cause/effect reality of our physical world. We have been blessed with a cranium capable of critical thinking, yet we are all too eager to surrender that superior attribute to situations and scenarios that hold no real power over our lives.
So what am I trying to say with all of this fancy talk?
You decide how you feel, how you think and how you act.
You were born with the power to decide and dictate the outcome of your life experiences. Stop making excuses and forfeiting your God-given right of free agency. Thanks again and have a great one

This post is upvote & resteemed.

Really impactful post. A lot to take away from this. If you choose to act and take one of the paths, you take the risk of failing. If you choose to sit and wait you do avoid the chance of failure, but you also rule out success. Your fate is in your hands.
Clearly from your post, you want us to understand this concept in much more depth and i have given this more thought deeply. You are a great writer and thats why i look forward to your ppst everyday.

Lovely lovely post @gavvet.When you said :

'Some may get away with less work, but that generally comes at the expense of others.'

No matter who you are, or what you do, the work needed for any project here on earth can never be reduced. Not even machines help reduce work, rather they help reduce the work you would have done yourself. The full work that Is required has to be still done.
For instance in agriculture, people might say that they use machines to farm, but those machines were built by people, and that requires work by those people. Work cannot actually be bypassed, it can only be transfered from one person or thing to another.
You know this makes us know the word of of God is sure. All weve done as humans is to transfer that work to machines, and not take the work away.
Life will be better for soma years people if they got this message, knowing that work cam never be bypassed. You must do it. The earlier you understand this, the better you start to enjoy the benefits of work.

I definitely concur. we might think that a world without risk or challenge, without pain or heartache, a world where our every wish is fulfilled would be heaven and bring us boundless joy, it would, in fact, make us absolutely miserable and be a certain kind of hell. Without risk there can be no # in the reward. Without misery there can be no joy. Without the bitter there can be no sweet.
for example the fish does not understand what water feels like, or that it even lives in something called “water,” for it is completely enveloped in it. But a fish that is scooped out in a net, and then placed back in the water, does then gain the knowledge of what water is, and how exquisite it feels to be surrounded by it.

So on point. This brings to mind the travails of the Israelite in the land of Egypt. When the Egyptians wanted to build all their statues and buildings, the Israelite had to do the work. The work had to come from somewhere.
It's so unfortunate that a lot of people see work from the wrong perspective. We would start getting the benefits of work if only we change our mindset towards work, starting to see work as a good thing, a thing that produces good, and not a curse.
Awesome post

Thank you so much @gavvet. I appreciate your effort in writing this. This came when i needed it. God bless you.
I guess it would be better at times to forget the bad stuff but it’s often been the bitter taste of the bad things that have caused us to appreciate the sweet taste of the good things. The sorrow of trying to train a rebellious teenager is offset by seeing them become mature and become someone you’re proud of.
God Himself calls us to move forward into maturity and gives us the grace we need to change. If you look back longing for the good old days then you’ll never move forward into the better days that are yet to come. You can’t be seeking backwards while hoping to move forward.

This is an awesome post @gavvet . This is a message that has been scarcely talked about in our present day. When God cursed the ground, it was more like He put a new standard to the way things are to be done on earth. As long as you are breathing, whether believer or unbeliever, you are subject to this law. Even Paul the Apostle worked. He even said 'he that does not work should not eat'.
This is a noble message, and the earlier we heed to it, the better

This is good. I love it when science is used to back Gods word a lot of people think science is at war with God's word, or science is out to disprove God's word. But if you look deeply, you'll find out that science always proves Gods word to be true, just as we've seen here thanks for this post, it's a big encouragement.

Thanks fro share great educational post yo steemit @gavvet. That would be biological topic may be. Anyway I always learn from your posts. Past ones read successfully. Thats success story. Thank you sir.

Good article. I agree for the most part. However maybe we just haven't discovered the means for perpetual motion yet? Isn't our solar system a perpetual motion machine? Perhaps when we learn the needed lessons in earth school we will be able to have free energy etc.?

True that how some "brighter" minds can get away with less work but that comes with the expense of others. Life is harsh in everywhich way for those who allow the dominants dominate, unfortunately in this communication dependent world it gets ever easier to take advantage of the naive.

Usefull info... Thanks

Work was always to be a part of our lives even before the fall. The difference however as that our work was not to be a burden but rather a blessing. Now our work is a curse. So it's hard and downright depressing at times. So yes work is good as God has given us this responsibility but it was not originally made to be hard like it is now.

God did not make suffering, and cannot remove it.

Suffering is created by our perception of anything as noxious
Suffering is relative; therefore, everyone suffers who is mentally capable of doing so

How they suffer makes the difference.

From what I've observed,
most hobos don't care much about being financially insecure and not having food for a day. They suffer when exposed to extreme cold and don't have shelter, though.
most criminals don't care about going to jail. They say they just entertain themselves with thoughts and pass the time twiddling their thumbs. They say they may well freeze and they don't care. But they are horrified of officers, and they suffer in self-esteem when they try to break bad habits and fail.
most intellectuals suffer from their lack of social skills and their logical and scientific viewpoints upon life. They are too above the common intelligence to even interact normally with a common and unintelligent man.
Many rich people suffer due to a lack of philosophical importance in their overindulgence, and they often question the sanity of living on

Anyway, that's what I've seen in people I know. I'm not saying everyone is like this, I'm saying this to illustrate a point.

There will always be suffering because suffering is relative. If you're out in the cold like a hobo, you will face hobo suffering. But if you want a decent assurance of safety during the winters and decide to go to jail instead, you'll face criminal suffering. If you wish to sacrifice your precious time to get lots of money for self-indulgence, then you'll face rich person suffering.

Hence, you should learn to accept all suffering and all pleasure as transient, and accept your power to learn from suffering and revel in happiness as you enjoy the fruits of philosophical pleasure, for it is a pleasure not transient like the worldly pleasures.

Yes, He did not make us suffer, we inflicted suffering upon ourselves by perceiving displeasure as evil and pleasure as good. The truth is that both simply are, and they are states of being. Neither is better, for they have their own benefits and problems. They are black and white. One cannot exist without the other, for they are relative.

I think that everything is a balance, since it is written: "He will produce thistles and thorns and you will eat the grass of the field, you will win the bread with the sweat of your forehead, until you return to the earth, from where you were taken. you are dust and to the dust you will return! ".
For me the work is good, in the beginning of the Bible itself, we are told that God worked for 6 days to create the heavens and the earth, and that in ... The seventh day God concluded the work that he did, and rested the seventh day of everything I had done. He says the word: My Father works so far, and I work. John 5.17 RV95.
The great law of sowing and harvesting is exposed to us very specifically focused on work. The farmer, to participate in the fruits, must work first. 2 Timothy 2.6 RV95 There must not be one without the other. When you eat the work of your hands, you will be happy and you will be well. Psalm 128.2 RV95 And when done correctly there is blessing. Here then, the good that I have seen: that the good thing is to eat and drink, and to enjoy the fruits of all the work with which one tires under the sun all the days of the life that God has given him, because that It is your reward. Ecclesiastes 5.18 RV95 So, what a pleasure to be able to rest and enjoy after a week of dedicated and responsible work!

On the other hand, the consequences of not working are also clear. And when we were with you, we ordered this to you: that if someone does not want to work, he does not eat either. 2 Thessalonians 3.10 NKJV And what happens if one does not eat? The desire of the sluggard kills him, because his hands do not want to work. Proverbs 21.25 RV95

But although the simple enjoyment of work is good, what better than doing it really well. Have you seen a careful man in his work? In front of the kings will be, not in front of people of low status. Proverbs 22.29 RV95.
So that who strives from the beginning in the simplest and even humble activities, often achieves better jobs. His lord said to him: "Well, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you much. Enter into the joy of your lord. " Matthew 25.21 RV95.
conclusion

The work is good but it will cost us the "sweat of our brow". Even so, God orders that it does not cost us so much. Sweet is the worker's dream, eat a lot or eat little; but the rich man does not let the abundance sleep. Ecclesiastes 5.12 NKJV The values of this world centered on the economic are in opposition to what God wants. "Is it the right time for you to reside in roofed houses while this house is in ruins?" Thus says the Lord Almighty: "Reflect on your conduct! »You sow much, but you reap little; they eat, but they are not satisfied; they drink, but they do not get enough; they dress, but they can not get warm; and to the hired man his salary goes as if for a broken bag. "Haggai 1: 1-6 NKJV And this affects us all in the enjoyment of the fruits of labor, from the richest to the poorest; but also making it much harder for the vast majority of us. Before that, this is what God wants: Work, not for the food that perishes, but for the food that remains for eternal life, which the Son of man will give you, because to this God pointed, the Father. John 6.27 RV95.

Truly a very interesting post @gavvet. This is my first introduction to your work but I am very interested in your interpretations. In this, you have hit the nail on the head that we cannot forge ahead without the pain of loss or failure. While that might not be exactly what you are talking about in this post, our lives are a sum total of a million events and actions from ourselves and others.

I know I said it, but this was truly interesting and I look forward to reading the previous entries in this series.

yes, it's true .. No gain without pain .. We never value things or people if we don't get them without efforts ..pain..hard work..

Great post thank you.

It's true. One of the original mandates of mankind was to "tend the garden" which speaks of us being designed to work. To have purpose and meaning to our actions.
When Adam and Eve fell, a part of the curse was that work would be a struggle and bring toil. We aren't promised happiness anywhere in scripture, nor does it say to go after happiness or a stress free life.
With no battles, there is no victory!

Great post. I enjoyed reading it.

All of which still pales in the face of the brute fact of omnipotence. An omnipotent creator would have no need to do any of this or or be limited by any rules. The only possible conclusion that permits the existence of said omnipotent creator is that it's not need but want that is the cause. The creator wants the world to be the way it is.
