Many of us know this story. Growing up our grandparents, parents and teachers would tell us the story about how Yunus (Jonah) peace be upon him was swallowed by a whale. I did not think much of it until recently I had a thesis to do on whales. I realized there was acid in the belly of the whale, which burnt his skin and the smell was unbearable. How traumatizing. It was his faith and believing in Allah (God) and prayer that helped him survive. When he came out of the whale, his skin was as if he had second degree burns and he had no clothing. This is a true hero. The lesson to be learned here is that no matter where you are and how dark your days are, if you have faith, Allah (God) will make a way for you.
