So the question remains how can I (or anyone) know that the bible is true?

    Historical events, archilological finds, non biblical writings collaborate the bible.
    Scientific facts stated in the bible are confirmed by modern science.

    As for knowing:

    Hebrews 11:1
    Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

    Romans 10:17
    So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
