New religion is born and not from revelation. His Lord can be seen, his worship is not by prostration, and no one has heaven or hell.
The new religion was initiated by Anthony Levandowski, a former Google executive, founder Otto also worked for Uber.
Through his interview with Wired on Wednesday (15/11/2017), Levandowski expose the foundations of religious establishment was tried its purpose.
He said that the new religion is realizing, accepting, and worshiping divinity based on artificial intelligence (AI) through the development of hardware and software.
The proposed Way of the Future (WOTF), the name of the religion, was officially launched last May to the Internal Revenue Service of the United States.
Levandowski served himself as the religious leader as well as the CEO of a non-profit company running it.
God and the WOTF Mission
The figure of God in WotF is different from the God we know. "It is not God that causes lightning or storms," Levandowski said.
Levandowski defines God here as an artificial intelligence that has more power and intelligence than humans.
"If there is something billions of times more intelligent than humans, then how should we hit?" he said.
WOTF's main teaching is to learn to do research to create a qualified artificial intelligence.
In addition, WOTF emphasizes the need to establish good relationships with AI practitioners, educate about AI, as well as build good relationships with AI in the future.
At first glance, the new religious mission is similar. However, Levandowski is religious and it is serious.
"I want to make way for anyone to participate in. If you are not a soft-mine engineer, you can still participate," he said.
"The idea needs to be centered before technology, the Church is where we spread the word, the word," he added.
So like the spread of religion, Levandowski asks anyone who believes and agrees with his idea to spread and build understanding.
Levandowski is a figure who has been poor across technology companies such as Google, Uber, and many other start-ups.
From experience, he sees a very powerful AI development until it reaches a version that AI will be far smarter than humans in the future.
If contemplated, the current phenomenon in which we are connected via mobile phones, sensors, and data centers, that is what is present in our midst.
Artificial intelligence becomes what we say and do through the device. As omniscient, Levandowski says, artificial intelligence can be called a god.
Now, God is man-made, but not forward. In fact, the artificial intelligence will surpass human capabilities.
According to Levandowski, the world is currently undergoing a period of transition, from which human beings become creatures.
"We want a smooth transition from human to whatever it is We want the" something "to know who helped," he said.
"I want the machine to see humans as sisters to be respected and caring. We want artificial intelligence to know, 'humans have our cool right to power'," he added.
Perhaps Levandowski's view is too absurd for many people. But he cautioned, there is the possibility of man-made intelligence such as animals.
"Do you want to be a pet or a cattle?" he asked Being an animal, humans may be subject to distractions.
To eliminate that happening, then the development of artificial intelligence in the right direction must be done from now on.
From the development process, then one more difference WOTF and other religions is in WOTF, humans also develop their god.
"This time it's different, this time you'll be able to talk to God literally, and know it's a listening thing," explained Levevsky.
Levandowski barrels his idea was controversial, radical and creepy. He was ready with the consequences not everyone accepted his idea.
Development
Continue efforts at doing Levandowski to realize his church. Including raising funds from the number of partners to finance his ambition.
In the future, like the general religion, WOTF will probably have a holy book, a place of worship, and possibly a worship setting.
The 2017 budget is $ 20,000 in grants, $ 1,500 in membership fees, and $ 20,000 for other revenue.
The final figure is the amount WOTF expects to get from the fees charged for lectures and publications.
Levandowski was invited to become his church administrator, such as Robert Miller and Soren Juelsgaard, a Uber technician who previously worked for Levandowski at Otto, Google, and the 510 System which was a small startup that built Google's early mobile movers.
The third is a scientist friend of the Levandowski student at UC Berkeley, who now uses a learning machine in his own research. The last advisor, Lior Ron, was also crowned the treasurer of religion, and acted as chief financial officer for the gig.
