This man was listening to Paul as he spoke, and Paul looked intently at him and saw that he had faith to be healed,

Verse 9 above shows clearly how important the role of faith on part of the receiver to receive. Without faith on the part of the man, notwithstanding the anointing of Paul, the healing wouldn't have been possible
