The spiritual passover: Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out

in repent •  3 years ago

After having received the holy spirit, the spirit of wisdom, at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), the disciples began to live in communion: "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give anyone who had need.", Acts 2:42-45.
It is in this context, after the healing of a lame man from birth at the door of the temple, that Peter's second discussion takes place. This speech by Peter is a call to conversion, to a change of heart, to a new spiritual Passover, the passage from a life full of sins to a life of righteousness (“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, Matthew 7:12): "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.", Acts 3:19.

The times of refreshment, times of rest and peace for the soul, come with conversion, the disciples explain to us. This is so because the more a society approaches the correct social order, the communion, the burdens or the contributions to the common good are distributed more equitably: "For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.", Matthew 11:30.
All men unanimously desire happiness, but the truth is that no one can be happy alone without friends and relatives in this life, man is essentially a social being, happiness in its true form is a social and not an individual goal, because it is shared and transmited. The egoisms when are extremely intense only bring destruction.
God's ways bring us that happiness mixed with a safe and quiet life: "Her ways are pleasant ways, and all the paths are peace.", Proverbs 3:17.
